Food talk!

I love food!
But unfortunately, often it has some not so great consequenses, for my body and my health..
That's why I´ve lately been trying to eat a bit healthier than before!
Trying. A bit. Slowly.

Instead of counting calories, I´ve slowly started to reduce the amout of carbs I´m eating, and cut down the sugar too.
I´m eating more fruits, veggies, and drinking a looooot of water! (... and green tea!)

I thought a good first step of changing my eating habits is learning to drink water!
I even bought a new drinking bottle, and now I´m filling it a couple of times a day, and I´ll try to get used to drink just plain water!
There´s many reasons why we should drink a couple of liters of water per day!
For example
1. Drinking Water Helps Maintain the Balance of Body Fluids.
2. Water Can Help Control Calories.
3. Water Helps Energize Muscles.
4. Water Helps Keep Skin Looking Good
5. Water Helps Your Kidneys.
6. Water Helps Maintain Normal Bowel Function.

So if you want to take care of your body, drink water!

And then,
the summer comes, and I just Have to get an ice cream!
Booom! And the diet is ruined! Ha, ha, ha!
Well, at least I tried.. At least I walked to the store to buy it! At least I wanted to change..
At least everything else was healthy.. could be way worse!
And, tomorrow is a new day again! : )

Spring colors!

Hih! It´s spring! Nature is getting alive again. And so am I.

Pastel colors are in, this spring!
So, also I had to get some new colors to wear!

Nail polish and a nice blouse!
Oh, even me... me who is always wearing black or some greenish / natural colors!
What´s wrong with meeee?
Spring, I guess <3

Hm, also I noticed my studying is pretty spring- stylish now ;)

Hmh, anyways it´s 1 am, I have an exam tomorrow, and I´m here writing about some nonsense!
Oh, I better go finish my studying now, if I´m willing to sleep at least a bit tonight!

Have a nice day! Keep on smiling!

A Rainy Spring Day

Sunday, raining, alone at home....

What could be a better way for escaping studies and exam preparation than listening to music and eating a piece of cake, with a huge cup of coffee!
.. yeah, I bet you won´t find a much better option..

Yesterday I made some quark pie, for our church´s youth meeting.. and left a couple of pieces for myself, of course. :P
My mom has always been doing this pie on Easter time, and as I found an easy recipe (here) I decided to give it a try as well!

Quark Pie / Cake

3 dl - sugar
2 teaspoon - vanilla sugar
2 teaspoon - baking soda
2 teaspoon - baking powder
250 g - butter (melted)
8 dl - flour

Mix all the ingredients listed above
Part 1/3 of the batter to another bowl

Mix 2 dl of cream or sour milk and 1-2 eggs
to the rest 2/3 of the batter

Quark filling

500 g - quark
2 dl - sugar
2 teaspoon- vanilla sugar
2 eggs
+ additional
1 lemon
peach

Mix all the ingredients listed above
-

Pour the batter (2/3, with cream and eggs) to a baking tray covered with parchment paper
Then pour the quark filling
Add the rest 1/3 of the batter to the top of the pie

Bake in preheated oven in 200 C for 30 minutes

Enjoy!

Waste talk!

Dear Blogspot,

Today I will tell you a bit about recycling! Waste talk... Or, talk about waste!

Yesterday we visited my town's recycling center and landfill (Yes, I´m studying Environmental Engineering, if you wonder why..)
It was quite eye- opening I´d say!
To be honest, I was a bit suprised that everything was so well organised. But on the other hand, seeing the landfill and The Huuuge pile of waste, made me wonder how big is My Own part of the pile!

Do you know how much of waste do we generate?
Well.. Let me tell..

If we share the amount of waste we produce nowadays, one person generates average 1,2 kg of waste per day. If you do a fast calculation it makes 438 kg per year!
(But it varies, depending on where you are from, for example in Finland we generate averagely 4300 kg of waste per person per year, almost 10 times more than the average of the world. )

Then considering we have about 3 billion residents in the world..... We end up to this number ----> 1 314 000 000 000 kg of waste per year = 1,3 billion tonnes of waste!
Seems like a big number, doesn´t it?

According to some estimations the amount of waste we generate will even be doupled, in the next 10 or 15 years.
Should we probably do something?
Or do you personally prefer swimming in a waste sea in the future?

Yeah, maybe these numbers made it more clear for you. But in case it's still not clear enough, let's create a picture for your great mind.

The volume of your waste naturally varies, because not all waste is the same. It can vary even between 50 - 500 kg/m3.  But let's assume averagely you can fit 150 kg of waste into one cubic meter. This means every year, you need a new 1 m x 1m x 3m space for the waste you generate!
Then what if we count it for the whole world. ( I´m a bit scared to do that, but iĺl do it anyways..)
I came up with the volume of 8 760 000 000 m3!
This means every year we need a space which is;
50 meters high, 50 meters wide, and 3 504 kilometers long...
just for the waste we produce in one year! Scary, huh?

What can you do to reduce the amount of waste you produce?
Do you recycle?
Do you thing we can generate this huge amount of waste without recycling some of it?
Could we find some more solutions for the utilizations of the waste?

Dear Blogger, I just want to make you think a bit.

But, I think that's about it today!
Maybe sometime I will tell more about the options of what to do with the waste we generate!
Or do you have some ideas for it?

A New Beginning!

Everyone and everything deserves a second chance, right?
So does my Blog I think... and me- as a blogger!

I´ve decided to give the blogger-me a second chance! Woho!

From now on I´ll be writing about my life, post some photography, some nature topics (who knows..), and whatever comes to my mind!

And yes, the language...
At the moment I find it more interesting to practice writing in English.

I wish you a happy day!
